SARD IACC Caretaker

Responsibilities: General Objective: The Residential Mother will be based in Azaz. The Residential Mother reports to the PSS Team Leader. One of her primary responsibilities is the care of children residing in the temporary alternative care center. Care of Residents: • The Residential Mother is responsible for the children during her shifts. Assisting resident children in meeting their individual care needs by carrying out duties and supporting the implementation of their individual support plan. This includes, but is not limited to: o Personal Care: Bathing, feeding, dressing, toileting, and hygiene. o Household Care: Preparing snacks, heating food, maintaining shelter routines, regular laundry. o Health Care: Medication administration, doctor’s appointments, physical therapy. o Emotional Care: Companionship, purposeful activities, conversation. • Apply PSS activities to teach resident children to develop coping skills so they can integrate into society and/or live independently in the future. Encourage resident children to participate in social and recreational activities. • Ensure a child-centered approach is followed and always act in the best interest of the child. • Work night shifts as scheduled in the emergency shelter action plan. • Ensure all SARD policies and procedures are followed in a productive and effective manner. Communication: • Communicate in a positive and effective manner among colleagues and other staff, to support and encourage a safe and productive environment for all residents, clients, and colleagues. • Provide verbal reports during the weekly meeting on progress and the status of the children. • Follow the advice of the PSS Team Leader and adhere to weekly and monthly planning activities prepared under their supervision. • Prepare written monthly reports on activities conducted and progress made regarding children’s behavior. • Immediately report any conflict or concerns related to residents or colleagues to their direct manager. • Immediately report any household concerns to the PSS Team Leader. • Maintain the confidentiality of all information pertaining to the children. Health and Safety: • Visually inspect equipment before use and report any concerns to the supervisor. • Ensure the safety of residents and staff. Locate and securely store hazardous materials. • Assist residents in maintaining safe rooms for everyone. • Report all risks, incidents, and/or accidents to the PSS Team Leader. • Supervise shelter visitors and request identification documents. Roles and Responsibilities: 1. Provide direct care and support to children in the temporary alternative care center. 2. Implement PSS activities to foster children’s coping skills and social integration. 3. Maintain a safe, nurturing, and child-centered environment. 4. Adhere to SARD policies, procedures, and the emergency shelter action plan. 5. Communicate effectively and report on the status and progress of the children. 6. Ensure health and safety protocols are followed for all residents and staff. 7. Manage daily operations and reporting as per the role. Required Skills and Experience: • Diploma in Nursing or another relevant field or extensive experience in social work. • Experience in a Child Protection program. • Understanding of the root causes of child protection concerns, relevant international standards, and child protection/response strategies. • Familiarity with SOPs and tools used and shared by the Child Protection Sub-cluster. • Fluent in Arabic. • Strong prioritization skills and the ability to be flexible. • Experience working in challenging locations. Ability to be resourceful and adaptable in a limited resource environment. • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, and Internet).
